What Are Cookies

Cookies are text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and understand how it is used.

Cookie Categories

This site uses two categories of cookies:

  • Strictly Necessary cookies set by Cloudflare for bot management and security. These are required for the site to operate safely.
  • Performance cookies set by Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. These are placed by default unless your browser signals an opt-out via the Global Privacy Control (GPC) standard, in which case Google Analytics is not loaded at all.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and is not listed in the table below because it sets no cookies of any kind.

Cookies We Use

Security cookies are set by Cloudflare, our CDN and bot-protection provider. Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics 4 (GA4). The specific cookies that may be set are:

Cookie Category Purpose Duration
__cf_bm Strictly Necessary Cloudflare bot management; distinguishes humans from automated requests 30 minutes
cf_clearance Strictly Necessary Marks visitors who pass a Cloudflare security challenge (only set if a challenge is triggered) up to 1 year
_ga Performance Distinguishes unique users 2 years
_ga_[MEASUREMENT_ID] Performance Persists session state 2 years

Performance cookies collect aggregated and pseudonymised data. No personally identifiable information is stored. IP anonymisation is enabled where supported by Google Analytics configuration.

How to Opt Out

Strictly necessary cookies set by Cloudflare are required for the site to operate safely. Analytics cookies are placed by default unless you opt out by one of the following methods:

  • Enable Global Privacy Control in your browser. Brave and DuckDuckGo enable it by default; Firefox supports it under Privacy & Security settings. When GPC is on, Google Analytics is not loaded for you on this site and no analytics cookies are placed.
  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to opt out of Google Analytics across all sites.
  • Use a content blocker such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger, or block cookies for this site in your browser settings.

See the What We Track page for the full list of events sent to Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics.

Third-Party Cookies

Google Analytics is operated by Google LLC. Their use of data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Managing Cookies

You can disable or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
